To say I love finding good deals is an understatement. Before moving to Franklin, we lived in the San Francisco Bay Area. Home of the most awesome flea markets, thrift stores and antique shows. Beautiful and cheap furniture, decor, rugs, lighting (you name it!) was easy to find. Craigslist was also full of amazing, affordable, one of a kind pieces. When we were decorating our first home, we had very little money to decorate so we would frequent these places on the weekends and our entire house, minus a few items, were all second hand. And it looked great!!

But when we moved, I quickly realized I was no longer in a place that had many second hand stores, and the local vintage shops were not cheap! So, I started looking elsewhere to find good deals. Home Goods, Marshalls, and Target became my go tos. But, it became harder to have a home that felt unique, so I started looking at online stores like Etsy and Overstock. When it came time to decorate my boy's rooms in the new house, I got creative and created a place that felt unique, age appropriate and did it fairly inexpensively.

This is the Ikea KURA reversible bed. It can be assembled as shown, and used as a single bed and then flipped over (without reassembling) to use as a loft: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80253814/

Comforter set is from Target: https://www.target.com/p/checkered-buffalo-comforter-set-full-queen-black-white-pillowfort-153/-/A-51578691?ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=google_pla_df&CPNG=PLA_Bedding+Shopping&adgroup=SC_Bedding&LID=700000001170770pgs&network=g&device=c&location=9013171&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjbyDstiq2gIVxbfACh2R_QVvEAQYASABEgLKPPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

The table I got on sale ($90) at Westelm.com but it is no longer available.

And then we had to get creative for all Oliver's car storage. They used to sit in a box and the never got played with because he could never find the car he wanted when he wanted it. Found these custom spice ledges on Etsy for $30 a piece. Not super cheap but they look great and solved our storage problem here. https://www.etsy.com/shop/RusticCreationToo?ref=l2-shopheader-name

We did a similar thing in Leo's room. Thomas the Tank Engine is his jam so we did the same shelves in his room but with trains instead. We did the panda in his room and a few prints framed over his dresser.

I got this cute Buffalo print from Land of Nod (now Crate and Kids) a few months ago for $20. I framed it myself using an inexpensive frame I found at Michael's for $7.99. This print is no longer available but there are lots to choose from on their site. Like this unicorn one: https://www.crateandbarrel.com/teal-unicorn-unframed-wall-art/s567665

Leo's toy baskets are from Target and they hold A LOT of stuff. One has legos in it and the other has random toys I don't want sprawled all over his floor. The round ones are only available in stores but here is the square version. Equally cute and functional: https://www.target.com/p/woven-decorative-basket-khaki-pillowfort-153/-/A-51065402

His dresser is 3 drawers and it was on sale at Target about 6 months ago. It is still a steal at $80: https://www.target.com/p/modern-3-drawer-dresser-room-essentials-153/-/A-53404835

Overall, what we did in these rooms feels custom, functions well, and didn't break the bank! Win, win, win!

oh my dutch baby, you are almost as great as a real baby
